Probably one of my favorite things to do is paint. Since we
live in a small space and don’t have a private yard this is often a challenge
for me. But I don’t let it stop me. I look for pieces that I can work on
indoors and use around our home. Click on the links to see the before and after
transformations of my furniture makeovers.
This piece was once dark brown and the leg was pretty beaten
up. I restored the leg and painted it in Florence chalk paint.
I found this hidden treasure at a shop near my office. I
knew Tom would appreciate this while watching the game in front of the TV….and I’d
appreciate him taking his feet off my coffee table J
I initially didn’t know what I was planning to do with this
but something about the detail in the legs said “buy me”. Now we use it as a
desk seat when we are paying bills.
I just love this little table. I picked it up years ago for
$5. This was the first painting project I had worked on in years. At the time I
had only knew about Latex paint. This piece got my mind going again and totally
had me doing what I used to love. Paint! It also is the reason I discovered
Chalk Paint. I was going to sell it on Craigslist and even had some offers but I
quickly realized I just couldn’t part with my little table. I’ve rearranged the
living room and now have it between the couch and the love seat. The grey plays
beautifully off all the blue in the room.
This is one piece I didn’t do for myself. My step mother
inherited this piece and once she heard what I was into enlisted my help on
this project. It was indeed a nightmare project but it was a fun one at that.
We stripped the old paint off of it, brought it back to the bare wood and then I
painted it in Barcelona chalk paint and applied multiple layers of clear wax.
We picked up two of these years ago when I first moved in
with Tom. There was no room in his bedroom for my enormous dresser so I improvised
with two of these instead. When we decided to list our condo I moved one into
storage and the other into our living room. The original color it was no longer
worked with the flow of the dining and living room. I decided that Paris Grey
chalk paint was a good color choice but it needed to stand out and the Pure White
chalk paint trim made it pop.
This is just a little project I worked on for my niece’s room.
The theme of my sister’s baby shower is pink flowers. When I saw these I knew
they would be adorable up on Ali’s wall. Jae is planning on calling her Alison
Rose. The Rose part comes from our mother. It was her name and I know she would
just love these in her granddaughter’s room since our mom loved flowers. When
planning the shower and helping Jae with the nursery I tried to think of what
our mom might have brought into it. I think this is something she would have
loved.
This is a piece that I picked up at a tag sale for $15. To read about the before and after change click here. Alot of time went into this piece but the end result made it worth it.
Stay tuned for more to come.
