My best friend Jill always throws great “kiddie” parties.
Her son, Robert, is turning 2 next month. Jill happens to be pregnant with #3
and due the end of this month. Therefore, she decided it was best to have
Robert’s 2nd birthday party a little early this year to avoid having
his new brother or sister (it’s a surprise) come out and take over his big day.
Jill’s daughter (Jules- 3 ½) and son are really into Mickey Mouse so she threw him
a Mickey Funhouse Party. They had it in their back yard this past Saturday.
They had a bouncy house for the kids, a full size swing set and lots of other
fun yard games. Jill made an amazing cake as she did here for Jule’s 3rd
birthday.
The menu was BBQ themed. Fried chicken, brisket, ribs,
cornbread, biscuits, potato salad, coleslaw & a tossed salad. Absolutely
delish!! For the adults she served Arnold Palmer & unsweetened ice tea and
she served the kiddies juice boxes. In addition to the Mickey themed party
favors Jill put together in “Mickey” bags she had a piñata put in the back yard
and all the kids got a chance to take a crack at it before Robert’s daddy broke
it for them to grab all the candy. Everyone showered Robert with tons of gifts
but I think his favorite might have been the stuffed Mickey Mouse toy that Jill’s
college roommate sent him. Guess Jill picked a good choice with the Mickey theme. Seems to be his favorite!
